As a concerned group of citizens, we created an advertising campaign to begin to sow the seeds of global humanity in our local community. Although the transit ad campaign is now over, our ads were seen all over town on 5 Tri-Met buses during January and February 2002.

We have listed a number of humanitarian agencies, nonprofits and charities on our web site Please visit their web sites to see what they are doing to bring relief to the people of Afghanistan and how you can help.

Details about the ad:
The advertisement was 2.5 feet X 12 feet and appeared on the outside of the buses. The ad featured a photograph by Ebrahim Wahab of Afghan Children with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt below.

The ads were sponsored by groups of citizens, individuals, and organizations. You can see a list of sponsors here.

The Web site:
This web site www.pdxpax.org will continue to be up as a link to humanitarian groups working in Afghanistan. It was originally intended to be up and running throughout the ad campaign and the URL was listed on the ads. The primary purpose of this web site is to provide the names and contact information of charitable/nonprofit organizations providing humanitarian aid and working for peace and social justice. These groups were nominated by sponsors of the ads.
