Peace & Justice Commission
April 15th Forum on Taxes & Faith

Co-Sponsored by Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, the St Philip Neri Peace & Justice Commission & the St Philip Neri Metropolitan Alliance for the Common Good Core Team

On Tax Day 2004, we gathered in Carvlin Hall to learn more about our tax system and then to discuss taxes in the context of our faith. We first heard from Madeline Mader, program director of Citizens for Oregon's Future, to learn the basics and the pros and cons of tax reform options. Anthony Granados, Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Portland's Office of Justice and Peace, and Philip Kennedy-Wong, Public Policy Director for Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, then facilitated an honest discussion about how the values of our faith intersect with our interests as tax payers.
